Important Information for Medical Mutual Members

OrthoUnited and Medical Mutual Network Negotiations

Last Updated: September 30, 2026

OrthoUnited is currently in discussions with Medical Mutual regarding our participation in its provider network. Unfortunately, despite extensive negotiations, we have not yet been able to reach an agreement.

OrthoUnited remains an in-network provider with Medical Mutual through October 14, 2026. Unless a new agreement is reached, OrthoUnited will become out-of-network with Medical Mutual effective October 15, 2026.

We understand that this news may create questions and concerns for our patients. We remain committed to working toward an agreement with Medical Mutual and hope to avoid any disruption in care.

Steps You Can Take Now

  1. If your insurance is through your employer, contact your HR or Benefits Department. Many employers offer more than one plan or network, especially during open enrollment. Ask:
-What health insurance plans or networks are available to me?
-Is there an option that would keep OrthoUnited in-network
-When is open enrollment, and can I change my coverage for the upcoming plan year?
  2. If you're in active treatment or have surgery scheduled, ask about a Transition of Care Waiver. Call the Member Services number on your Medical Mutual ID card. OrthoUnited can provide the medical information needed to support your request.
  3. If you have Medical Mutual Medicare Advantage, review your options during Medicare Open Enrollment (October 15–December 7, 2026). Consider provider-network participation when comparing 2027 plans. OrthoUnited cannot recommend a specific insurance plan.
  4. Let Medical Mutual know that keeping OrthoUnited in-network matters to you.

We have prepared the following information to help answer questions from our patients.

Our Commitment to Our Patients

For decades, OrthoUnited physicians and employees have been committed to providing high-quality orthopaedic care to patients throughout Northeast Ohio.

We value the trust our patients place in us, and we understand the importance of maintaining access to the physicians and care teams they know.

Our preference is to remain an in-network provider for Medical Mutual members. We will continue working toward an agreement that allows us to serve Medical Mutual patients while supporting a sustainable, independent orthopaedic care model in our community.

We appreciate the patience and support of our patients as these discussions continue.
