Cutting-Edge Neck and Spine Care

Offering the Area’s Most Advanced Neck and Spine Care

OrthoUnited offers advanced, complete care for the spine with state-of-the-art treatments for a wide range of neck and back conditions.

As a leading spinal center, OrthoUnited brings together a team of specialists that offer comprehensive care for the complex system of vertebrae, joints, discs and nerves that make up the spine. Our board-certified physicians, psychologists, therapists, and support staff diagnose and treat back injuries and illnesses with the most current surgical and nonsurgical approaches, including physical therapy and pain management services.

For many patients, the symptoms of spinal problems can be relieved with medications, bracing, and rehabilitation. However, if conservative treatments have proven ineffective and your pain is both persistent and disabling, surgery may provide lasting relief.

But not just any surgery or surgeon will do! Our talented neck and spine specialists have experience operating on some of the most complex conditions you can imagine.

OrthoUnited is the only place you need to visit for comprehensive and successful neck and spine care. You have one life to live. Let’s get you back to living it!

Non-Surgical Methods

When you choose OrthoUnited for neck and spine care, you can breathe a little easier knowing that you have a full team of experienced practitioners attending to your needs. Non-surgical methods may include:

Neck & Spine Surgery

Our neck and spine specialists are highly experienced and skilled at cervical artificial disc replacement surgery to ease pain and discomfort from a pinched nerve or instability of the spine. They have also performed hundreds of other surgeries on the spine, including:

  • Discectomy - This procedure involves removing the herniated portion of a disc to relieve the irritation and inflammation of a compressed nerve.
  • Laminectomy - This procedure involves removing the overlying bone of the spinal canal, thus enlarging the canal and relieving nerve pressure caused by spinal stenosis.
  • Spinal Fusion - This procedure permanently connects two or more bones to add stability to a spinal fracture or to eliminate painful motion between vertebrae due to a degenerated or injured disc.
  • Kyphoplasty and Vertebroplasty - These procedures involve adding bone cement to stabilize a spinal fracture.
  • SI Joint Fusion with the iFuse Implant System® - The iFuse procedure involves inserting typically three triangular-shaped titanium implants across the sacroiliac joint to maximize SI joint stability, reduce pain, and improve function.
  • The Intracept® Procedure - Dr. Nein is now offering this advanced procedure for the treatment of vertebrogenic pain, a distinct type of chronic low back pain caused by damage to vertebral endplates, the tissue that covers the top and the bottom of each vertebral body and separates it from the disc.

Whether this is your first time undergoing surgery on your neck or spine, or you are in need of a revision to correct issues from a previous surgery, you can feel confident putting your care in the hands of our locally-respected neck and spine surgeons.

Our Patients Say It Best

“I’ve had back & shoulder surgery recently and both doctors were excellent. I’d highly recommend both Dr. Shepard and Dr. Stefanko.”
-Bonnie C.
“Amazing doctor and staff! Having to have back surgery was very scary and stressful however Doctor Gasser was amazing! He explained everything to me in detail and with terms I could understand and was very patient with me and my million questions before and after surgery. He continued to check in on me my entire hospital stay. Very professional surgeon/doctor I HIGHLY recommend.”
-Aimee P.
“I could not be more pleased with the care I have been receiving beginning with Dr. Stefanko and continuing with Dr. Chauhan both of whom have so much compassion for their patient. And the staff is welcoming, warm and also compassionate. I also saw Dr. Eschbaugh for a small problem. He was also totally compassionate and caring. A great place to seek orthopedic care.”
-Virginia M.
“Dr. Cecil was excellent during my visit. Down to earth personality, but very professional. Dr. Cecil eased my mind with the explanation in depth of what was going on and my diagnosis. He explained my MRI in depth, when he sat me down and looked at it with me. Very thorough. Very honest. Plus gave me options to think about. I would recommend him to anyone who needed his area of expertise.”
-Kristen M.
“Dr. Candage was wonderful, very professional and answered all my questions on my back pain. I was in and out in under an hour, with an X-ray and a shot. I will always refer anyone to OrthoUnited.”
-Deborah N.
