Neck & Back Injuries

Put a stop to your pain and limited mobility.

Comprehensive Care for Neck and Back Pain

While anyone is susceptible to back or neck pain, those who have experienced a traumatic injury to the spine or suffer from a congenital spine condition endure a deeper level of pain and limited mobility.

Our board-certified spine surgeons have helped countless patients suffering from trauma, congenital deformities, osteoarthritis, and other conditions that cause incapacitating pain. Their goal is to return patients to a normal or drastically improved life after neck or back surgery free from pain and its consequences.

OrthoUnited surgeons have treated even the most severe cases of spine conditions involving the cervical spine, thoracic spine, and lumbar spine.

Neck and Back Conditions We Treat:

  • Degenerative disc disease
  • Spinal stenosis
  • Spinal trauma, including fractures and dislocations
  • Spondylolisthesis (slipped vertebrae)
  • Spondylolysis (stress fracture of the spine)
  • Spinal deformities, such as scoliosis and congenital disorders
  • Infection

Conditions of the Cervical Spine (Neck)

Neck pain can often be alleviated with nonsurgical methods. Our skilled doctors will diagnose the cause of your neck pain and may treat it with cervical epidural steroid injections or cervical selective nerve root blocks. Long-term (chronic) neck pain may require spine surgery, especially when it is caused by one of the following conditions:

  • Herniated Disc
  • Myelopathy
  • Degenerative Disease
  • Radiculopathy
  • Foraminal Stenosis

Neck and back pain or injuries can be more than a temporary nuisance. Trauma can lead to spinal cord injury and, in severe cases, permanent disability.

If you sustain a neck or back injury, you may have localized pain, tenderness, and stiffness. Also, muscles on either side of your spinal column may spasm either immediately following the injury or up to 24 hours later. If you experience numbness, tingling, or paralysis of an extremity, it is a sign that the injury is more serious and requires immediate medical treatment.

Other spine problems are the result of aging—years of wear and tear on the neck and back. This includes degenerative disorders, fragile bones and fractures from osteoporosis, and nerve compression.

Taking a Minimally Invasive Approach to Your Treatment

Our doctors will always treat your neck or back problems conservatively before resorting to spine surgery. If you do end up needing surgery, many procedures can be done with a minimally invasive approach and on an outpatient basis. Our spine surgeons will advise you of all your treatment options and answer any questions you might have so you can make a decision that’s best for you.

Neck and back problems can be painful, they can be debilitating, and they should be taken seriously. If you’re suffering, make an appointment today. We can offer you the highest level of care from specialists and surgeons who have spent their careers treating conditions like yours.
